Refund Policy

⚠ DRAFT — Not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Pricing model: Driveway Hero ($99 one-time, 14-day satisfaction) and Professional Installer ($149/mo, 7-day trial).

TL;DR

We sell two paid products with different refund rules:

  • Driveway Hero ($99 one-time) — 14-day satisfaction window if you haven't used any tunes from the pack. After your first tune session is used, the pack is non-refundable.
  • Professional Installer ($149/mo) — 7-day free trial. After that, monthly billing with cancel-anytime. We don't pro-rate mid-month cancellations.

Beyond those rules, if something is genuinely broken or we mis-sold you a feature, email us and we'll make it right.

1. Driveway Hero pack — $99 one-time

Driveway Hero is a single $99 purchase that unlocks 5 tune sessions on one vehicle. It does not auto-renew.

Refund rules:

  • Within 14 days of purchase, 0 tunes used — full refund, no questions. Email billing@tuneless.tech.
  • After 14 days OR after at least one tune session is consumed — the pack is non-refundable. Unused tunes never expire, so you don't need a refund to preserve value; just come back when you have time to drive.
  • Hardware incompatibility — if our hardware compatibility check (free, before purchase) said your setup is supported and it turns out not to be, we refund regardless of the 14-day window.

2. Professional Installer — 7-day free trial

When you start the Professional Installer subscription, your card is authorized but not charged. You have 7 days to evaluate. We send a reminder email on day 5. If you cancel before day 8, you pay nothing.

If you do not cancel, your card is charged on day 8 at $149 and your subscription renews monthly on that anniversary.

3. Professional Installer — monthly billing

The subscription renews every month. You may cancel any time from your account page or via the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep paid access until then, including any vehicles already added that month. We do not pro-rate cancellations of monthly plans.

Overages (additional vehicles beyond the 5 included) are billed monthly with the base fee. Once an overage vehicle has been added and a tune session is used on it, that overage charge is non-refundable for the month.

Example: you start the month with $149. You add a 6th vehicle on the 10th ($20 overage queued). On the 15th you cancel. The 6th vehicle had at least one tune session used — your final invoice is $149 + $20 = $169 and you retain access for the rest of the month.

4. Cases where we always refund

Regardless of the product-specific rules above, we will refund the most recent payment, in full, if:

  • You were charged due to a billing system error (duplicate charge, charge after cancellation, etc.).
  • The Service was unavailable for more than 5 consecutive days due to our infrastructure and you contact us during the downtime or within 30 days after.
  • A feature material to your purchase decision was removed, materially altered, or never delivered.
  • You were a victim of fraud (unauthorized use of your card to sign up).

To request a refund, email billing@tuneless.tech with your account email and a brief explanation. We respond within 3 business days.

5. Cases where we generally don't refund

We do not provide refunds for:

  • Forgetting to cancel the Professional Installer trial before it converted (we send a reminder; please set a calendar event).
  • Driveway Hero packs where at least one tune session has been consumed.
  • Buyer's remorse after using the Service.
  • Dissatisfaction with tune suggestions. The tuning engine is non-deterministic; a different proposed tune isn't the same as a defect.
  • Hardware incompatibility you could have determined from our compatibility list before purchase.
  • Damage to your engine or vehicle from applying any tune (see Terms § 5).
  • Inability to use the Service due to your browser, OS, or network configuration (we publish requirements on the landing page).

6. Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback with your card issuer instead of contacting us first, we may suspend your account pending resolution and dispute the chargeback with Stripe. We'd much rather just talk first — email us and we'll usually settle in 24-48 hours.

7. Termination by us

If we terminate your account for violation of the Acceptable Use provisions, we do not refund the unused portion of your subscription. If we terminate without cause (e.g., we shut the Service down), we refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

8. How refunds are processed

Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe. Processing time varies by card issuer (typically 5-10 business days). We refund in the original currency of the transaction.
